CG Artist Toolkit: Sack Animation
During this morning's animation class with Meg we had to complete our sack animation, although I forgot to draw the box on another layer so I will correct this at a later date. He's kind of a fat sack who is a bit clumsy who falls off at the end but I feel the sack could have more personality looking back at the animation.

Life Drawing: 27.11.2013
This week we were using colours and we focused on the light and dark contrasts within the figure. I feel like I need to force myself to not outline everything when drawing as this tends to flatten the image. I also believe that learning edge control and form building will defiantly help me improve on my draftsmanship and my confidence. I look forward to doing more next term, in the meantime I am still waiting upon Scott Robertson's book......
Zoetrope animation
Zoetrope animation, a quick morph of objects associated with christmas :). I am happy with the outcome, I was going to do a fourth morph but I feel it wouldn't work too well on the zoetrope so I decided to my make my morphs slower so the transitions are smoother.

Life Drawing: 20.11.13
Today we were working in colour using paints and soft pastels. I love traditional painting I just need to practice more on it as I haven't painted traditionally for a long time now and it shows! It also makes me appreciate just how easy it is to get good colours when working digitally in comparison to using real paint. Still need to practice on my anatomy skills, but I feel more confident in drawing the figure now :)

Pixilation Animation - The Hole
Today we did a pixilation in our animation class with Meg. It was very fun experimenting with pixilation animation. We were shown some examples of what was possible with pixilation and from that we had come up with this idea of rowing boats, appearing through holes and disappearing into the walls. I'm pretty pleased with the overall outcome of this work :)

Life Drawing: 06.11.2013
Life drawing from this week, sorry about the quality of the third one. We were focusing on using negative space when working on these and only using shadows and tones to draw the figure. I found this hard to do without using an structure lines but it made me think a lot more about the anatomy of a person when doing these. Lastly we were told to do a single line drawing, I used a plain pen to do this, I found this one to be the most enjoyable exercise of the day :).

CG Art Toolkit: Bouncing Balls
Bowling Ball
In Meg's lesson today we were asked to animate bouncing balls and to think how the weight, form and material would affect the way it moves. Overall it was a good exercise to do I feel I need to add more frames to my bowling ball and next time draw it in pen so it shows properly and then onto my ping pong ball :).

CG Arts Toolkit: Drawing Week 2
In today's CG Arts Toolkit drawing class we were told to draw the structure that was in front of us with any medium and we could turn the structure into an environment. I used mainly charcoal because I feel it allows me to be looser with my lines and it frees my up within my work. I feel that if you loosen your drawing skills and to be able to draw more naturally it will allow your work to have a lot more character in it when drawing anything, and this is one of my goals to loosen my drawing skills to bring character to my sketches and paintings.
We were also given a task to photograph the structure in ways that we can show scale and looking past the obvious. It's also good to get back into drawing everyday (especially traditionally) and eventually I shall do draw out of habit and I wont have to worry so much about the core fundamentals, hopefully. But altogether Wednesday's are good days :)

Rise Of The Guardians Concept Art
After reading my OGR I think I need to rethink how I am approaching this project with terms of style and environment design. Therefore I am looking at different ways to paint landscapes within animation as it defers from film and games tremendously. Here is a selection of concept art that I found inspiring. The use of colour within these work is amazing.
I feel that these in particular show that you don't need to detail everything to get a sense of the environment. When working on my thumbnails and even final images I might try this approach.
Here are some beautiful uses of colour in the scene, with really punchy colour pallets where in comparison to others this seems a lot more like an animation set rather than a film or a game environment.
Here are some more stylistic concept paintings for the same film, they both give a good sense of atmosphere in there paintings. It's also interesting to see how they go from bloack and white to colour, but they managed to get rich looking colours, hopefully with practice I can get something looking like these for my final presentation.
I would post them all but I don't want to flood you with them, here is the link if anyone is interested in seeing more :) : http://livlily.blogspot.hu/2012/12/rise-of-guardians-2012-color-keys-color.html

Face Morphing
Here was our exercise today in our CG Artist Tool kit : Animation & Character class with Meg. We had to craw each others face's. We had 9 frames of animation altogether to crate the morph animation.
I enjoyed this task, although portraiture is one of my weakest areas of drawing (I should really practice this) as I have drifted away from drawing faces in the past where as it came to haunt me today but it turned out successful in the end :)

Still Life Drawing
First drawing class on Wednesday. We got to explore different mediums and practicing our observational drawing skills which is always good to practice and I should do more of in all honestly. This was a really fun exercise and I enjoyed it honest :) It reminded me of foundation when I got to do a lot of ink drawings. It was fun to see everyone's different approach to it and I look forward to it next Wednesday :)

Animation and Character - Morph
Here is our animation done in the Animation and Character workshop today. We had an hour to create a morphing animation done with charcoal and pastels.
At first we played a game of 'Consequences' to form our characters. We each had to draw the all different parts of the body to form these creatures and then chose the first guy you see as our main character. Unfortunately I did not manage to get pictures of all the different characters but there were four in total.
This was a fun little animation although I think it could morphed at bit more in terms of structure of the creature I think we could of done more but we was limited on time. It also got a rather weird at the end as we did not know how to end it. We ended the animation by folding the paper up to represent how the original drawings originally took form when drawing them in our groups.
