Spider Gwen Rig Now Available!

In the meantime of graduating, going to the beach and freelancing here and there over summer I have been working on creating a rig for animators to use for either show reels or personal use.

I have decided to start with a model provided by Brian Bedford and that being Spider Gwen! She was bit of a pain as she was one mesh with freakishly long legs and massive knees! Following from that I used digital tutors for the rigging tutorials Here it was a learning experience and was different to what I was used to. I'm always trying to up the quality and usability of my rigs and am determined to figure out how Animschool rig theirs!

For my next rig I will change the fingers to having FK fingers and a finger control for ease of animation and reversing back to the old foot rig that I was using (maybe), I will also look into creating a different spine with IK/FK  controls. Although from this I have learnt a lot about expressions and a slow understanding of coding whilst learning about the Flexi plane approach to rigging with stretch and squash for IK and FK switching. From this I will bring all this information together for a music video which I am working on and hopefully can show you sometime in the future!
Here is a link my gum road to download the Spider Gwen rig and feel free to use it for practising animation, show reels and anything else you want to use it for!

Whilst I really enjoy rigging and enjoy characters coming to life I also want to improve on my modelling skills and character work. So hopefully in the near future there will be some more characters and models to see!

@Phil Business Card Progress 02

I've selected other images for the business cards that I think could work and cropped the image with the window in it to fit better with the card. I cut back all the extras from the other designs to a simpler design, thinking about the other design I need people to be able to see my information so I just stuck to my email and twitter profile.

Skye: Animation Story Progress and Visual Style

After over written files, whole scene changes, music re-writes and last minute story tweaks the animation is done! (For now) And I feel the story is finally finished and concluded to what is coming together to be a really nice story for Skye. With 3 weeks to get the music composed and directed for the film it also has been an experience for me and Adrien to really help push this animation to what it needed to be. There are obviously some sound effects missing for this but they will be added soon after the rendering is complete.

I am now going to turn myself towards lighting and getting the animation rendered as soon as possible to then focus my attention towards the art of and finalizing this project. I have rendered out a still for the new designers which admittedly took a way too long to render, but I plan to keep this visual style throughout the film with a different light set up. I am in the process of making a colour script so I know exactly what I want my animation to look like in terms of colour and aesthesis in readiness for lighting.

I hope you enjoy :)

Skye: Scene 01 Animation Test

After a long week Scene 01 is up to standard with the animation, still things need refining and the hair needs to be animated but I am working towards animating each scene to this standard before refinement. I have also been in touch with many composers after going to Vimeo for help with the animation and have finally decided to work together with Adrien Volpi. His music is used within in this first minute of the animation and it seems to work almost flawlessly with it. It's exciting seeing it all come together, now onto scene 2!

Skye: Previs Complete

Finally the previs is complete and is ready for animating, this means that the composers can start working with it from now on too which is exciting!

Skye: Previs take 05

I have composted the images on top of the footage for now with the mum and Skye in the photo frame but in the animation it will be textured and the papers in front of the frame will be her drawings of her and the family, for now I have only used two models of Skye for the image but for the animation it will be painted. Hopefully it is complete enough to start animating and sending of to the compositors
