Adaptation B: Scottish and Welsh Characters

Here are my other characters. I think my Scottish guy is the weakest from the four I have designed but  I am going to paint up the Irish guy to take into 3D for this particular project.

Adaptation B: Irish and English character final sketches

I took on board what Alan had suggested and tried to round the forms off the forms for the character and finalizing the designs for them including the base of the characters so they are ready to be painted. I thought with the Irish cowardly nature he would be of archer background and the english being big and greedy being of a drinking background. Overall I am happy with these two characters so far.

@Alan Adapatation B: Final Character Sketches with corrections

Here are my completed sketches of my Welsh, Irish, English and Scottish characters, I feel that the Irish character is the strongest of the 4 so I am going to make orthos, a character bible for him to go into 3D and paint these guys up hopefully over the weekend.

Adaptation B: Scottish Character

This is my Scottish character so far, so with my 4 characters complete I am going to change the English character into a more fatter greedy character and keeping this one as the royal noble one as I feel it suited the character more so than the other one.

Adaptation B: Welsh Character

So far this is my welsh character, I wanted it to be a The lover within the group and how he loves himself more than anything else in the world and he admires his hairiness. I'm not sure about his nose but for now I will use this for the base of my character, I took the swept back hair and the curved cheeks from my actor reference.

Acting: Lesson 2

In today's class we were all given a social statuses from 1-10 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest and we all had to respond to each other not knowing each others statuses. In the second part of the class we were given situations to perform and for the character to change depending on their status given. Overall it was a fun exercise and it will defiantly help in the future when it comes to animating and acting for my final project.

Adaptation B: English + Irish together

I took the colours again from the crest of the Irish family and took that into consideration for my design of the clothes for the Irish character.

Adaptation B: Irish Character Developement

Continuing from last weeks drawings I have redone the face that I think suits the character better whilst looking at Father Ted for influence, still staying to the hippie vibe and more of a scared character that doesn't want to fight the others. From here I will carry on with the base colours and get him up to the standard of the English character.

Adaptation B: Irish character

Going onto my Irish character (the hippie) I am finding it difficult with the face to fit the character so I might end up going for a different actor to base it off of, but here is the development so far.

Adaptation B: English character Rework

Here I have gone back and decided to rework the pose like Alan had suggested, I started to paint the design but realized that I should go in and finish off the line work to make it more readable. I based the character off of Ray Winston in the end as I felt as though it suited the character better. For now I shall leave the rendering till later and carry on with my other characters as I am happy with this one for now.

Adaptation B: English Character Progress

For my characters I am going to try a different approach to how I work with designing them, I am going to first focus on the shape of the designs and get that correct then once my design is blocked out I will go back to detailing them for the final designs and concept art. For the colour scheme I used the colours off of the emblem from Yeoman and I will be doing this for all of them using their colours schemes to represent each character. My favorite designs are, 7,8 and 9. I deliberately didn't detail the face as I want the character to read without the face at first and I can get to that detail later on, once I have decided on ym block designs for my characters I will re pose them for my final concept art work.

Adaptation B: Influence maps costume design

Here are some influence maps that I have looked at for inspiration for costume design I am going for a medieval viking time period similar to brave in design terms. Here you will find old armour designs and what is currently being used in the style of animation I want to portray.

Acting: Lesson 1 - Posing and Sculpting

During today exercise we met Dan our acting tutor who taught us a different way of approaching our work when it comes to thinking about poses and sculpting your character. We also discussed the the power of a static pose and how much that can show to the audience about that character. Altogether it was a very enjoyable exercise and got us thinking about using yourself for reference. From this I am going to take some references trying to capture the essence of my character with myself posing for it.
